Wakefield Angry Residents - Latest News
The current issue we are tackling is the proposed destruction of Green Belt land in Stanley, Wakefield. For the now the website is dedicated to this pressing issue, and will resume to normal in the coming months.
BREAKING NEWS - IT IS DECISION TIME FOR WAKEFIELD WILDCATS, CASTLEFORD TIGERS AND WAKEFIELD COUNCIL
We now know a decision has been taken to build only one stadium in the district in order to secure the future of both Castleford and Wakefield as Super League clubs.

This not only makes financial sense but the Council does not want two multi million pound stadia in such close proximity because of all the associated costs with such large schemes.
Several weeks ago the Council did ask both clubs to submit a progress report on their proposed schemes. They wanted to assess the merits and any associated issues with both schemes and a decision would be made based on the evidence. The scheme which could best deliver a stadium in the time scale available to help secure super league licences for the two clubs would get the Council’s support.
Castleford Tigers were willing to support this as a sensible way forward and were prepared to ground share at the location which can best deliver a stadium in time. We understand however, that Wakefield Wildcats, did not responded and until now dragged their heels on the proposals.
So, let’s take a look at a few facts and issues for each application:
