It will provide jobs for the district.
Out of Wakefield's 21 electoral wards, Castleford and Glasshoughton (the proposed ward for the Glasshoughton development) has a much greater need for employment than the Stanley and Altofts area. In summary, the March 2010 figures state, Castleford and Glasshoughton had 94 live unfilled vacancies in the district, and 458 people seeking employment. The site is easily accessed and is in a sustainable location. All the following infrastructure is available to use now.
There is a good road network to and from the stadium including M62 access. This makes it easily accessible by car and coach; there is a railway station within walking distance of the stadium; public buses are available throughout the day and local supporters could cycle to the stadium.
This would be one of the few rugby league stadiums in the country with a railway station making it accessible for home and away fans.
This railway infrastructure is available to use now, and will be a huge advantage and asset when applying for a Super League licence for both clubs.
Surveys have shown that supporters have indicated they would be happy to walk to the stadium in bigger numbers than at present walk to the Jungle.
